It ain't over until the fat lady sings! Despite three successive defeats, CD Javea still have the promotion play-offs within their sights and the fans can do their bit by turning up in numbers to support OUR local football club this Sunday (13.04.08).
CD JAVEA vs CALPE CF Sunday 13th April, 6.00pm
There are just seven games remaining in the 2007/08 season and, despite three successive defeats, CD Javea still have a promotion play-off spot within their sights. Visitors to the Municipal Stadium in Javea this Sunday are Calpe CF, a side savaged by financial problems this season, a sad legacy of the devastation of Calpe by the gota fria last October. Eight defeats in a row had brought the Calpinos to within a whisker of the relegation but they have lifted themselves in recent weeks and they are determined to be no push-overs in this weekend's local derby.
Back in November CD Javea made the short journey down to Calpe, accompanied as always by a boisterous travelling army, and crushed the home side 3-0 in a one-sided encounter that gave confidence to the rojiblancos to lift themselves into contention for a play-off spot. The return fixture this Sunday is unlikely to be a romp but the fans can do their bit by turning out in numbers and roaring the side onto victory.
CD Javea young and exciting team have exceeded all expectations this season and one reason for this success has been the terrific support afforded to the lads. Players are constantly astounded at this, often telling the media that they feel they owe it to the supporters to perform well during each and every game. The support is the rojiblanco's twelfth man, especially at home, and there has never been a more important time to play their part in the season's culmination than in the next seven weeks.
