Bar Alcasar - Benitachell

ImageAfter being locked in a small studio with the 6am girls last week, we thought lovely Dougie from Coast fm would have taken out a restraining order on all 6 of us. Much to our surprise, we were invited along again to tell him all about last weeks night out, and let him know where we were going this weekend.

We behaved ourselves much better this week, due to a lack of afternoon drinking, and have now been invited along to the studio every Saturday night on Dougies brilliant Ascension show.

So now you can keep up with all the 6am girls’ weekend antics every Saturday on the Ascension show from 7pm, not to be missed, or listen to the interview on the link at the bottom of our articles.

After a brief stop off at the Coast FM studio, we hit the road and took ourselves off to a lovely little bar/restaurant, Bar Alcasar just outside Benitachell to see our friends Keith & Gary of Zodiac. Now these guys are masters when it comes to entertaining an older crowd.

Their chose of great party favorites with a mixture of old 60’s & 70’s hits gets everyone singing and dancing along with them.  Now the 6am girls range in ages from 17 right through to 38, and most of us weren’t even born when some of these songs were in the charts; but like all great music, even the 17 year old knew the tunes and we were all singing along with Zodiac.

The other thing that struck the 6am girls was the amount of dancing going on.  In a bar with a younger audience it takes a while for people to pluck up the courage to dance, but at Bar Alcasar the oldies were showing us youngsters how to have a really fabulous time, without caring what everyone else was thinking.  It was such a refreshing attitude, and we just couldn’t help ourselves, we all wanted to get in on the pelvic action too.

The party atmosphere was all to do with the great entertainment supplied by the wonderful Zodiac guys.   Life partners Keith & Gary have been in the entertainment business for over 10 years and believe us, you can tell. They have the audience in the palm of their hands; you just can’t help grinning along with their naughty innuendoes and the 6am girls just love a bit of innuendo.

Bar Alcasar opens from 1pm daily and closes around 1am.  Live music is on most Saturday evenings starting from about 9pm through to 11pm.  In the weeks to come there are some really well known acts on their entertainment schedule; but take note you definitely need to book your table, or get there early, as in this popular little bar seats get snapped up quickly.

You are made to feel extremely welcome the minute you walk through the door and that’s all down to the wonderful owners Mike, Valerie, Diane and their friendly bar staff. Their function room seats about 50 people so it’s a very intimate atmosphere.  The restaurant offers a great selection of “harvester” style favorites like steak, gammon, salmon and their gut busting combo for 2.  They have a good vegetarian selection, so our veggie 6am girl Jo was very happy.  Drinks are very reasonably priced, coke €1.30, Pint of beer €2.60, pint of John Smiths €2.60, G & T €3.80, bottle of house wine €7.00 and a coffee for €1.20.

It has very good disabled access and there is parking right outside the door.  They also have a tennis court, 5 aside football pitch, basketball court and an outdoor play area with swings and slides to keep the little ones busy while you can enjoy a really well priced meal on their pretty patio area.

Bar Alcasar is also heavily involved in fund raising for the youth centre in Benitachell and last year raised over €2000, so anyone in the area needs to watch out for any future fund raising events and support this fantastic cause.

The 6am girls think this is a great venue for all the family.  I have already booked 2 tickets for Ricky Vance on the 18th April, as I know my mom & gran will love it.  They won’t know it was only €15 for a 2 course meal and show, so hopefully I might get some brownie points without spending a fortune, a bargain basement price and a surefire way of getting my washing, cleaning and tea on the table for the next month hurrah!!

Hear the 6am Girls with Dougie Mack, every Saturday from 7pm. On Coast FM's Ascension Show.
