Crazy Daisy's - Arenal Beach Javea

Tuesday, 25 March 2008

ImageThis week saw a real sweet treat for the 6am girls, a chance to get up close and personal with two of the best known DJ’s on this fair white coast.  The rain may have been coming down in buckets, but no amount of wet weather was going to dampen the party atmosphere at the Coast fm studios this Saturday night.

The 6am girls were invited along to the Saturday night Ascension show, hosted by the man with million dollar mixing hands Mr. Dougie Mac.  It was a wonderful opportunity for all the girls to meet the man who is an essential part of our Saturday night regime. His awesome dance mixes accompany the 6am girls through a frenzy of showering, shaving and straightening every Saturday night from 7pm.

To be invited along to the Coast fm studios and actually see Dougie mixing the Ascension tunes in front of us was an experience I hope we get to repeat in the future; although I’m not sure after trying to control 6 giggling girls, a live microphone and a locked studio door Dougie will ever be the same again. Thank goodness he had some additional security from the lovely Mr Jim Blair, Coast’s afternoon DJ.  The 6am girls were lucky enough to get two great DJ’s for the price of one, and we defiantly made the most of it. Wink Wink!!

We left the Coast fm studio, much to Dougie’s relief about 11pm and moved straight on to the Jealousy Champagne bar in the Arenal. Unfortunately to do this popular Javea bar justice with a proper write up, we would really need to spend a whole Saturday evening there, so that’s a review for the future.

Unsurprisingly after our earlier verbal exposure all the girls were feeling the need for a bit more oral expression(ohh err), so we thought a bit of Karaoke would be a great way to assuage our new oral addiction, and we knew just the right place to sing our little socks off in the company of some real Crazy Daisy’s!!

Crazy Daisy’s is a great little bar tucked between Scallops and Nanyos on the Arenal, and even thought the 6am girls had never been in there before, we were immediately made to feel welcome.

For the Easter weekend the bar had hired DJ Dodge aka Roger Grimshaw with his fantastic Karaoke.  By the time the 6am girls arrived the bar was already floor to ceiling with wannabe “Pop Idols” all we were missing was the cutting comments from Mr Cowell.  Dodges Karaoke book was chock full of all the latest music and some great old classics that ensured everyone got a chance to be Javea’s next best pop star, well for 3 minutes anyway! There was none of the embarrassment you normally come to expect with karaoke, everyone was getting up and having a go, and the rest of us were cheering, dancing and singing along with the performer, the atmosphere was fantastic.

Dodges Disco and Karaoke is held at Crazy Daisy’s all through the summer on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.  Dodge is also available for private bookings tel 609385 444, and be certain the next party the 6am girls have, he will definitely be on our must have entertainment list, the 6am girls just love a good bit of group karaoke!

Crazy Daisy’s is open daily from 2pm and closes when the last person leaves.  They have a big screen projector showing all the top sporting events, which are advertised daily on the board outside.  Drink prices are extremely reasonable at €1.75 for a coke, €3.20 for a beer; all spirits with a mixer are €5.50 excluding Red Bull and Jack Daniels. Shots from only €2.50 and a great selection of cocktails from €5.75.

The bar generally appeals to all age groups, but under 16’s need to be accompanied by an adult. It has a very friendly atmosphere, and bar staff make you feel really welcome.  The bar is open all throughout the winter, and although they don’t have a cigarette machine one is situated only 2 bars down.  There is disabled access downstairs and on the outside patio, but wheelchair users need to be aware that toilets are situated inside and up a small step.

For a small bar the 6am girls think Crazy Daisy’s has a big, friendly, welcoming environment and that’s thanks to its wonderful owner Brian and his great staff Nick, Jenna & Daz who make you feel so welcome.  It will definitely be on our list for some weekday warbling in the coming summer months, just be sure to bring your own ear plugs as we wont be held responsible for any ruptured eardrums!
