THE last free parking zone in Jávea’s old town is about to close. A council source said that the parking area on Avenida Fernando Rojas which can take 300 vehicles will close as soon as the new underground car park in Portal del Clot is opened. nder the contract agreed between the council and car park developer Ecisa, the free parking zone would go once the new facility and the one on Plaza de la Constitución were inaugurated. In effect the contract stipulates that there would be no free parking near the new car parks. This deal has sparked outrage between residents and shopkeepers in the area who say that the deal has seen 700 free car parking spaces disappear to be replaced by 800 others that cost 1.2 euros per hour or 22,500 euros if you wish to rent one long term.
