Worried Javea residents from Costa Nova and surrounding areas have been hearing strange explosions for several weeks now, and we at Javea News have received several enquiries about them ourselves. Well, finally we have the answer. Experts from the seismology department at Alicante University placed measuring equipment at Balcon Del Mar in Javea in an attempt to discover the cause of the explosions. After a week of testing and measuring, experts say that the explosions are actually aftershocks from the earthquake on the 7th Nov that measured 2.2 on the Richter scale. Pedro Jáuregui, head of the investigation team says that these aftershocks will probably continue for some time, but will reduce in intensity until they finally stop. So, good news then, those of us that live in the area can stop worrying that our houses are about to collapse around our ears!
