Iceland comes to Javea Last Wednesday saw the opening of the Iceland store in Javea. The parent company Overseas supermarkets already have 6 stores around Spain with links to UK stores Waitrose and Iceland . The store was opened on Wednesday 1st April on the site of the old Plus supermarket. Although it had been run as a supermarket for several years there was a lot of work to do before it opened and as the management only received the keys a fortnight before, the new staff and fitters worked flat out in order to have the shelves and freezers stocked for the opening. Keen shoppers queued eagerly for the opening and were not disappointed by the range of products. The shop stocks over 10,000 lines from the UK. The company has created 50 new jobs in the town, 30 full time and 20 part time. The manager David Doolan has been pleased with the first week of trading, attending to a constant stream of shoppers. Congratulations!
