The long drive from Javea to Murcia for a chance to shop at Ikea may soon be unnecessary as discussions are on going to bring an Ikea complex to the Valencian community. At present it is suggested that it may be built on a site at the Alfafar centro commercial and Heron City. This commercial is on the south of the city and is accessed by the V-31. It is already home to such giants as PC City, Media Markt, Decathlon, Leroy Merlin and Carrefour. Ikea is working to develop a shop in the area which will also bring with it over 2000 new jobs. At present Ikea has a total of 11 outlets throughout Spain and say their market research shows that there is a need for more outlets in the Valencian community. Talks are continuing at the moment with special attention being given to developing access roads for the proposed shop, but Ikea are hoping to get a project underway as soon as all technicalities are overcome. |
