This weekend sees the start of the Moor s and Christians Festival in the Javea Port. This is a colourful  and as realistic a re-enactment of the invasion of the Moors to the province and the subsequent banishment  at the hands of King Jaume. The week consists of various battles and struggles to take possession of the Castle, sports tournaments and the  final parades with all the fantastic costumes and invited guests form other towns. An excellent spectacle and well worth supporting. The programm starts on Saturday 11^th July , through to Saturday 18th.

Saturday 11^th

20:30 Fireworks to announce the opening of the festival.

21:30 Street processions collecting all participants for the Presentation.

22:30 Presentation of Moors and Christian groups in Avd. Jaime 1

Sunday 12^th

19:00 opening of the traditional Street Fair in Calle Triana

20:30 Traditional Festival music in Paseo Jaime 1.

Monday 13^th/Tuesday 14^th

18:00 Traditional Street Fair.

Wednesday 15^th

18:00Traditional Street Fair.

20:00 Flower offering in Calle San Jaime

23:00 Informal entrance of all groups in the streets of the Port

Thursday 16^th

20:30 service in Fishermans church to honour past Festeros and San Jaime

Friday 17^th

10:00 Sardines in Paseo San Jaime sponsored by Fila Capitana Schaitans

17:00 Traditional “piloto” tournament between the Filas.

21:30 Disembarcation of the the Moors on Grave Beach, flowed by the battle to conquer  the Castle from the Christians. Followed by parade of participants to Av Jaime 1

13:00 making of the giant paella by Gablis de LÀlcudia

20:00 Parade of all Filas starting a el  Pasaje Pio, Cristo del Mar, Avd. Lepanto and Avd San Jaime. Christian groups flowed by the Moors.

12:00 Christians battle to recapture the Castle form the Moors on the Grave beach, followed by parade of participants to Av.San Jaime.

19:00 Arrival of musical bands for parade.

20:00 Parade of all Filas starting a el  Pasaje Pio, Cristo del Mar, Avd. Lepanto and Avd San Jaime. Christian groups flowed by the Moors.  Ending with the float of  the Moors Captain for 2009.

24:00 Major firework display and closure of the festival.
