Javea businessmen are asking for the extension of the port and golf course in an attempt to boost local trade.
Following a very bad summer season this year; local Javea businessmen have called on the local council to draw up urgent measures to improve tourism in the town. Two of the most popular ideas are to expand the port, to offer more moorings, and the expansion of Javea Golf Club.
There are also calls to lift the suspension of local building permissions that was agreed last January, claiming that it is “totally unnecessary and unjustified”.
There is however widespread disagreement over the plans, especially with the municipal government, who are more in favour of protecting the local area and are against the expansion of the port.
A new study of the economic situation in the area which will update the last Javea socioeconomic review could be a base to move forward and update the local strategic plan to 25 yrs. There also plans to meet with the local council to review the planned improvement to the Arenal beach and Montanar area.
