A group of 11 business associations in Jávea have had their request for an open debate over the state of the town refused by the mayor. The group, backed by political party Nueva Jávea, sent a letter to the mayor detailing 11 points of discussion, which included matters such as public hygiene, safety, road development, flooding and general services. Nueva Jávea spokeswoman Ana Vasbinder claims that the mayor has wriggled his way out of the debate by saying the port and golf course developments were under the jurisdiction of Madrid and Valencia and not the council but failed to mention the other nine matters. Nueva Jávea intends to raise the matter at the next council meeting.
