The recent weather has certainly caused concern for people owning Javea property.
Mainly low lying areas have been flooded and local police have cut off many small ‘caminos’ that cross the valley floor. The main river emptying into the Arenal and Port areas have been the scene of most damage as the tidal wave of mountain water gushed into the local bay.
Javea property owners who had boats moored in the canal on the main sandy beach had good cause for concern. The videos published on this Javea news site recently showed incredible scenes of devastation with boats crashing into the Parador bridge and those that got through, were pounded onto the main Javea beach.
The sheer force of oncoming water is quite frightening for those caught up in it’s path. Even driving through flooded roads gave great cause to many local Javea property owners as they hurriedly made their way back to their homes hoping they had escaped the continuing onslaught of the ever rising water levels. Several families have had to leave their villas over the last few days and the Camping site ,400 metres off the main Javea beach, has been totally evacuated with many having to leave their possessions at short notice.News forecast in the Valencia region predict more to come in the next few days so if you are a Javea property owner the batten down the hatches, who knows when it will all end.Begs the question…..climate change..fact or fiction?
