On the 2nd and 3rd of May 2008 Murcia City is to play host to a number of top British bands for the SOS 48 Festival. Top bands the like of Kaiser Chiefs, James, and the Chemical Brothers are to star in this first of its kind, 2 day concert, giving the people of the Costa Blanca a chance to see these fantastic groups right on their own doorstep. Also on the bill are The Cabriolets, Rufus Wainwright, The Pinker Tones, Jeff Mills and Second.

The festival is being promoted as a showcase for ‘sustainable arts’ so as well as the chance to hear your favorite group, you will also have the opportunity to view works of art from many contemporary artists too.
The website for the festival www.sos48.com states that the organisers “want to bring some of the most dynamic and ground breaking artist’s practices to the region of Murcia”.
24 hours of the festival will be dedicated to the live creation of art, which will involve interaction from the general public and the second 24 hours will be dedicated to exhibiting these creations.
The organizer goal is “to establish ourselves as a cutting-edge European benchmark”
Live bands will take to the stage at 20.00 on Friday 2nd May. First to appear is Spanish group Second, and they will be followed by James at 21.00. Rufus Wainwright will take to the stage at 22.20 and the fantastic Kaiser Chiefs at 23.40. DJ Date featuring Warren Fisher, Jon Kane and Fischerspooner will take to the stage at 01.10 followed by the Pinker Tones at 02.50 and ending with Angel Molina at 04.00.
With a jam packed music schedule on the Friday evening, what can you expect on Saturday 3rd?
Well Saturday is just as good and kicks off with the Cabriolets from 20.00 swiftly followed by Fangoria at 21.30 and Digitalism at 23.00. This line up is set to “Push the Buttons and “Galvanize the crowd for the highlight of the evening with an electric performance from the fantastic Chemical Brothers at 01.00.
The festival ends with DJ Jeff Mills who is credited with laying the foundations for the highly influential Detroit Techno collective and will be set to bring the roof down with his electric mixes from the world of dance and techno.
