Tuesday, 08 July 2008 |
In the early hours of Sunday morning robbers got away with over 100,000 euros worth of jewellery from a shop in the commercial centre in Ondara. The alarm was raised when the last of the security staff was in his car about to leave the premises. He and his staff had secured the building and completed a security check. His co-workers had left the car park when he noticed an Audi car with passengers enter. He was immediately suspicious and called the police.
The police were quick to respond but it is thought that the gang were professional. They managed to cut through the security locks and raise the secure rejas so that some of the accomplices could get under and into the building. They went directly to the jewellery shop and emptied the contents into bags. They returned to the car and were leaving the car park as the police arrived. They headed for the motorway, driving straight through the toll barrier, with the police in pursuit.
It was thought that it was a well planned raid due to the fact that the whole operation took approximately 3 mins. At the time of this article it was not clear if the police had apprehended the gang. |
