last Saturday saw an unusual match being contested on the astro turf of CD Javea. It was obviously 2 mainly english teams due to the scorching heat and time the match was played - 11am!!! Added to this mix was the fact that they were veterans ranging from 30 to 53 years of age, and a mix of nationalities that included dutch and french. The game was definitely entertaining with some flashes of magic here and there.
David's Villa Mia team put up a good fight but were not stong enough to stem the tide of goals from the opposition Javea Vets. Villa Mia had hoped that their bright yellow shirts would effectively slow down their opponents by blinding them!!! Sadly the fitness of Villa Mia was not up to that of Javea who won comfortably with at least a 6 goal difference. Drinks were shared afterwards, with stories of when i was fit and at my peak.........!!!! A rematch will be scheduled but i think Villa Mia will need at least 3 weeks to recover!!
