Denia Rugby Club Season Draws to a Close

Rugby culminated in Denia as Chelmsford Rugby Club Under 14s visited Denia, playing three matches during their stay. On thursday evening Chelmsford played against Denia Under 15s, a closely fought encounter that saw the home side score first before the visitors scored three tries for a 15-5 lead. Late in the game Denia dominated but despite pulling a try back could not do enough to stop the physically smaller but better organised Chelmsford side record a well deserved 15-10 victory. 

 After a days recovery spent at the Oceanographic Park and Science Centre in Valencia, Chelmsford played a triangular tournament on Saturday against Valencia 1993 and 1994. In the first match the Valencia side, made up from the best players in the Community born in 1993, proved a little two strong for the Essex outfit, and despite a very spirited second half performance from the English, the Valenciano team managed to hold on to an early lead for a 22-7 victory.

Valencia 1993 then beat Valencia 1994 by 17 points to 5 before Chelmsford beat the younger Valencia side by 29 points to nil to finish the playing side of their tour on high. The tourists then went to the Railway Tavern to watch Wasps beat Leicester in the Premiership Final before spending their final day on the beach with a BBQ at the Hotel Oasis.

Training has now finished at the Sports Centre, This coming weekend the Club holds its Annual General Meeting at The Sports Ground on Saturday at 4pm before the End of Season Family BBQ and Awards at the Hotel Oasis (6pm-9pm).
