Brave Swimmers Celebrate 25 Years Of New Year Charity Swims
January 01
20:37 2014

Today several brave residents and tourists once again donned their new year costumes and decided to take the plunge in aid of charity. The Lancashire Bruja bar have orgainised the swim for the past few years, collecting monies for local charities through sponsoring  the swimmers and collection buckets on the day.  The original founders of 25 years ago -Michael and Muriel from Humpty Dumpty Newsagents – were there to lend their support  but opted to let their children and  grandchildren  swim on their behalf.  The swimmers entered the water at 1pm and had to remain in the sea for 10 minutes before returning the warmth of their towels and dry clothes. The event as always was well attended and with temperatures in the 20’s the participants recovered quickly to head off for a well earned drink!! Well done to all!
