Those of you who like to sample the Spanish culture are in for a treat this week in Javea. The large marquee has once again been put up in the Arenal car park. This signals the start of “ Gastronomy Week” in Javea.

Various local restaurants take part and each day they produce a dish that is typical of their restaurant. I t is an excellent opportunity as all you pay is 16 euros to enter the marquee and then you can wander at your leisure sampling various dishes and wines.
This exhibition starts on Wednesday 26th and continues till the evening of the 29th opening each day from 13:00 to 16:00 for lunch and 19:00 to 23:00 for dinner. In addition on 3 days an expert will host a seminar on different topics related to Spanish food and drink from 12:00 to 13:30. These are:

26th at Wines of Utiel Requena(Quenca) with Nodus bodegas.

27th Different ways of using Tuna .

28th How to cut Jamon Serano!

At the same time those of you who like traditional Spanish folk music will be entertained by the Javea folk festival- which continues till the 30th May.

Thursday 27th May – 22:30 Plaza de Iglesia(Church Square) Xarnege a trio who play tradtioanl music from the North of Spain.

Friday 28th May -22:30 Plaza de Iglesia. Folkifesta – a group form the Communidad of Valencia who perform traditional local music using accordions, tuba, traditional pipes and percussion.

Saturday 29th May – 17:00 Plaza de Convento(at the bottom of the hill by the “Old Men’s Roundabout”) Tribute to Pepe Bas (music teacher in Graull School who died in March)performed by his pupils – present and past – and his friends.
