As we approach the end of April, Javea gets into fiesta mood again. This is the annual fiesta of “Jesus de Nazereno.” The events begin on 25th April and run through to the 3rd of May when the effigy is taken back to the Ermita del Calvario church, on the hill above Javea . There are a variety of events including bull running, piloto tournament( a traditional game similar to squash), children’s games park, theatre and music

Sunday 25th

09:00 Children’s Piloto matches at the new Trinquet(next to football ground)

10:00 Exhibition of Classic Motorcycles in the Plaza by the town church.

11:00 Adult and professional matches of Piloto at the Trinquet

18:00 Inauguration of the  new Trinquet with matches by professional players

20:00 Dancing display by dance group Portixol in the church Plaza

Monday 26th

19:00 – 21:00 bull running in the car park on Avinguda  de Palmela

Tuesday 27th

19:00 – 21:00 bull running in the car park on Avinguda  de Palmela

Wednesday 28th

19:00 -21:00 and 23:30 -01:30 bull running in the car park on Avinguda  de Palmela

Thursday 29th

19:00 -21:00 and 23:30 -01:30 bull running in the car park on Avinguda  de Palmela

Friday 30th

18:30 Music concert by professional orchestra from Conservatori  de Musica  Javea in Paza de Convento

20:00 parade of the image around the town streets

22:30 Bradmis Band will play in the Church square whilst coca maria and mistela are given out.

Saturday 1st May Children’s Day

09:00 Awakening by music around the town. Children to follow through the streets to Plaza de Constitucion , where snacks will be offered , followed by games and races and  a childrens play park.

10:00 Display by Javea Red Cross for the prevention of accidents. Plaza de  Constitucion.

12:00 Show  “Dia de festa major”by David Espectacles company

21:00 Parade through the streets with the Tuna de Javea(traditional music group) to visit the crosses followed by fireworks display in the Plaza de Constitucion

Sunday 2nd

20:00 Flower offering to the “Jesus de Nazereno”

22:00 Performance by students for Maria Immaculada school followed by Montgo theatre group performance of a bilingual comedy

Monday 3rd Procession of Jesus de Nazereno

12:00  “Sung mass” in town church followed by  a “masceleta”(loud firecrackers) in the Avd. Palmela car park

19:00 evening mass followed by procession of the image to the its resting place in the Chapel on the hill. Followed by fireworks display.
