Roadwork Chaos On Its Way To Javea

Roadwork Chaos On Its Way To Javea
August 08
11:28 2010

Javea town council in their wisdom have decided to improve the area of La Guardia road where it is susceptible to flooding in extreme rain. Residents are well aware of the difficulty faced by the torrents of rain that flow down this road during winter storms, which often make it impassable. However much as they welcome this upgrade of the drainage system, they do question the Town hall’s decision to commence the work on the 9th August – one of the busiest traffic weeks of the summer holidays!

As if these residents do not have enough to cope with the traffic queue to the Saladar supermarket junction, then a queue from Aldi supermarket  to the Barclays roundabout, they are now about to get diversions added to their misery! Tourists who are not familiar with the area will undoubtedly be confused and cause even more tailbacks!

Surely it would make sense to start at least a week later when a lot of the tourist traffic has gone. Or even better use the money and time to make a roundabout on the junction of Carretera Portichol and Cami Cabanes and relieve the traffic flow to the roundabout at Barclays! No such luck!

The road works will be completed in phases hopefully finishing by 1st December 2010. On Mondy 9th of August they will start in Ave Rosal, the main entrance to Tosalet urbanisation, off the Guardia Road; and Calle de la Bleda which is the left turn before Viveros Toscal, as you go up the hill. These should be finished by the end of August! There will be diversions in use for those who need to access these roads. Happy motoring!
